ROCKWELL SPRINGS
People began fly fishing for trout on the stream at Rockwell Springs in the mid 1880’s. At that time the stream was a raceway for a mill and the fish were introduced as a side line. The stream is fed by an aquafer and the water comes up from the spring at 48 degrees all year round. While the flow does vary somewhat, it is consistent enough that the water stays cool throughout even the hottest summers and remains essentially ice free during even the coldest winters. Rockwell Springs is one of the few places where one has a reasonable chance to land brook, brown, rainbow and tiger trout. (Source: Rockwell Springs Trout Club).

Altar Fly Fishing was founded as a means to bring healing, refreshment, and long-term impact in the lives of leaders with a special heart for pastors, ministry and non-profit leaders. It is Altar’s mission to invest in leaders like you who are investing so much of their time, energy and resources into others. The problem? Many do not have the time or resources to invest in themselves or their future leadership which is leading to personal suffering from burnout and unhealthy souls. I (Eric Camfield - Altar's Founder) was in that very place years back which is why I made significant changes in my own life and started Altar Fly Fishing’s various ministries.
The Altar team has a toolkit of resources to help engage your congregation, community and personal network to help support this much needed time for rest and personal renewal. It is our hope that those who know you well will understand the importance of this retreat and be honored to share their resources to make this trip possible for you and countless others in ministry that desire to live out what they have been teaching to so many others. Caring for your soul is not a luxury, it is a vital practice that requires intentional time away.
